Book and CD
By Hilary de Vries
Foreword by Allan MacDonald
An inspiring collection of over forty original pipe tunes. Covering a wide range of rhythms and time signatures, it includes music written in many of the different highland and island landscapes of Scotland, reflecting their seasons, birdsong and the people who live there.
The book comes with a study cd, played by Allan MacDonald, to help in learning the music.
"Sometimes, people come along and change the format who are not necessarily pipers themselves- and Hilary de Vries with her 'Barley Skimmers' is one of these persons. When this occurs, interesting things happen."

By Kenneth Steven & Hilary de Vries
In the 6th Century early Irish Celtic Christian hermits made the journey from Iona to Iceland. Known as the papar, they built stone chapels and cross-slabs, evidence of which was found by Norse settlers centuries later.
Their unwritten story inspired the poet Kenneth Steven to create a sequence of poems that reflected their journey, both physical and spiritual. The poems in turn inspired Hilary de Vries to write music that would help carry the listener on that journey and enhance the experience.
'A Song Among the Stones' contains all 30 poems and tunes, as well as guidance notes on how to play the tunes.
